Options for Consignment:
Consign for a Check - Checks are automatically generated on the 15th of each month for consignors with more than $40 in their account. Checks are held for you at the check out counter in the location of which you've consigned your pieces. You will receive 40% of the selling price for most items. Please talk with the Intake Specialist for 50-60% percentage deals for your high-end pieces.
Consign for Store Credit/Exchange - Many of our consignors consign so they can using Store Credit in either location (Virginia Beach or Norfolk). If you choose this option, you will receive 50% of the selling price of your pieces as store credit. Not only that, but we reward you with at minimum of 10% off what you purchase for just using your store credit!
Consigned items – Must be clean and on hangers and ready for display/sale before they will be accepted by Double Take. Clothing must be “in-season”. Items with a distinct odor of tobacco/animals/moth balls are not acceptable or with any animal hair/fur on them, stains or signs of wear and tear (i.e. pilling or toe prints in shoes).
Pricing- of consignment items will be set by Double Take. If you would like to have a hand in pricing, you can do this by filling out our Inventory Sheet located at the top of this page. Usual pricing of consigned merchandise is approximately 20-30% of the original retail price. New items with retail hangtags still attached will be priced up to 20-40% of the original price. Consigned items will be marked down 20% after 30 days and 50% for their final two weeks on the floor, or at the discretion of Double Take. There is a $1-10.00 surcharge for each acceptable item that needs any special handling (i.e. repairs or dry cleaning).
We will select and price items that are best suited to our clientele. Sorry, Double Take cannot accept every item you bring and reserves the right to choose the items that we believe will sell best.
Consignment Period - The merchandise consignment period is 60 days.
Markdowns – Markdowns are at the discretion of Double Take. Items are subject to routine markdowns, discretionary markdowns, and sales-prices. Consignor will receive 40-60% of the actual selling price. All items are subject to item fees.
Your Profits/Payouts – Payouts for consignors are done by the owner, Jo Grice-Barrows, only. Every month our computerized system prints all checks worth more than $40. You can make a request for a mailed check at the end of your consignment contract (60 days). Posting the check will be at your own risk of lost check in the mail. A check fee of $1 will be deducted from your total. Un-Cashed checks and Monies left in your account longer than 12 months become the property of Double Take.
For Consignment Account for a Check - A $5 Annual Consignor Fee will be applied to your account beginning with the month the account is opened and every 12 months thereafter.
We are a small store and constantly need to make room for new consignment merchandise. We prefer you donate any unsold items. If you wish to retrieve items, we ask that you do so right before 60 days, so that items pulled on day 60 do not go to donation. CONSIGNORS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PULLING ALL ITEMS TO BE PICKED UP. If you do not contact us or make arrangements to retrieve your unsold items before they expire, the items will become property of Double Take. Please note – we do not call you when items expire.
Only original, authentic designer items are accepted by Double Take for consignment. By submitting items for consignment, you the “consignor” states that the items are authentic designer items and not counterfeit or “knock-offs”. Any label or trademarked insignia, logo, design, authenticity information, embossment are authentic of the designer it represents to the full knowledge of the consignor. Double Take may have an item submitted for consignment authenticated by the respective designer whose name or logo appears on the consignment product.
The sale price of the consigned items – will be split between Double Take and consignor as follows: The consignor receives 40% of the sale price; Double Take will retain 60% of the sale price. OR choose our 50/50 plan for ongoing credit towards in-store purchases. Consignor will receive 50-60% for High-End items (priced more than $2000 and $4000).
Layaway – Consignor agrees to allow DT to use their layaway system for the purpose of selling a high priced item. Layaway contract is for 60 days starting from date of sale.
Early collection – If you pull unsold items during the first 30 days of our consignment period a fee of 25% of the priced value of the item will be applied to your account. Consignors may pull unsold items any time after the first 30 days, while the store is open and before the expiration date.
